Holmes posted late Wednesday night with a handwritten note to her former co-star. Van Der Beek died after being diagnosed with colorectal cancer in 2023. He is survived by his wife, Kimberly Brook, and their six children.
Holmes began her caption with a somber reflection: “I formed some words with a heavy heart. This is a lot to process. I am so grateful to have shared in a piece of James’ journey. He is beloved. Kimberly, we love you and will be here always for you and your beautiful children.”
The Dawson’s Creek pair starred together from 1998 to 2003. In her handwritten message, Holmes expresses deep appreciation for the memories they created.
